» Gov. Charlie Crist appointed Earl Lennard, a 67-year-old former Hillsborough County schools superintendent, to serve out the rest of Phyllis Busansky’s term as Hillsborough County’s supervisor of elections. Busansky died June 23.
» John A. Brabson has been named president and CEO of Tampa-based Lykes Insurance, and Angela J. Whitaker has been named the company’s COO. Brabson is a former CEO of Peoples Gas System. Whitaker was most recently Lykes Insurance’s CFO.
» BankAtlantic has promoted Douglas A. Tuttle to president of its Tampa Bay region.
» St. Petersburg resident Jack H. Jones has been elected “imperial potentate” — or CEO — of Shriners International, making him the highest-ranking Shriner in the world.
