» CSX Transportation of Jacksonville named David A. Brown executive vice president and COO to replace Tony Ingram, who retired in December. Brown has been with the company for nearly 30 years, most recently as a vice president and chief transportation officer.

» John Cushman III, chairman of commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield, has been named chairman of Jacksonville-based Rock Creek Capital, an alternative asset management firm that invests in resource-rich land.

» Jacksonville-based St. Joe Co. (NYSE-JOE) laid off two of its highest-ranking executives in a cost-cutting move: General counsel Christine Marx, whose total compensation package topped $1 million in 2008, and Senior Vice President and Treasurer Stephen Solomon, whose total package topped $900,000. In a separate announcement, the company named Tom Spence vice president and general manager for northeast Florida. He will work out of the new RiverTown Welcome Center.
