» Maria C. Alonso took over as chairman of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. She works for Bank of America as market manager for Miami-Dade/Monroe counties/global corporate social responsibility.

» Marquis Bank named Javier J. Holtz, a banking veteran who most recently operated a private equity firm, chairman and CEO. Holtz subsequently helped the bank raise $7.2 million in capital.

» Miami Jewish Health System named Lisa Jo Desmarteau CFO. She had been CFO of Joseph L. Morse Geriatric Center in Palm Beach County.

» James S. Cassel and Scott Salpeter left Landenburg Thalmann & Co. and founded a boutique investment banking firm, Cassel Salpeter & Co.

» Victoria Rixon joined J.P. Morgan as market manager of its Miami private wealth management office. She had been Palm Beach County regional president and market executive for Lydian Bank & Trust.
