» In a surprise move, the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission asked its president and CEO, Ray Gilley, to step down. The EDC expects to fill the position locally before the end of the year.

» The 1,409-room Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center hired Thomas Petrillo to run its day-to-day operations as vice president and hotel manager. Petrillo formerly served as resident manager at the Hilton Orlando Convention Center, another of the area's largest properties at 1,418 rooms.

» Steve Patonai takes the helm this month of Rockledge-based Wuesthoff Health System, replacing Emil Miller as CEO. Patonai was CEO of Auburn Regional Medical Center in Auburn, Wash.
