• EXTREME TEMPERATURES

Statewide, the opening months of the year were the coldest in Florida's history, while July through September ranked as the warmest, according to state meteorologist David Zierden.

Record: Tallahassee, 14 consecutive mornings below freezing

Record: Tampa, Jan. 11: 25 degrees

Record: Vero Beach, March 5: 33 degrees

Record: Orlando, Oct. 26: 92 degrees

Record: Miami, where the weather station at the Miami International Airport logged a summer average of 85.17 degrees, the hottest since the city began keeping records in 1895.

Record: Daily maximum temperatures in the West Palm Beach area reached or exceeded 90 degrees on 79 days.
