Amid cyber-worries, election tensions persist between counties and state

Amid ongoing concern of new interference in Florida's elections, tensions persist between counties and Gov. Rick Scott's administration over how to use federal election security money. Florida's Division of Elections has told counties that the state's $19 million share of new federal voting security money cannot be spent to reimburse counties for expenses already made. Tampa Ship could welcome more than 1,000 new shipbuilding jobs if Louisiana-based Bollinger Shipyards wins a major contract to build up to six Coast Guard polar icebreakers. Bollinger could start staffing up at Tampa Ship, which has 62 acres at Port Tampa Bay, as soon as 2020. More from the Tampa Bay Times.

CSX profit jumps as railroad keeps cutting expense

CSX Corp. delivered a 72 percent jump in its second-quarter profit as the railroad continues to cut its expenses and improve operations. The Jacksonville, Florida-based company said Tuesday that it earned $877 million, or $1.01 per share in the quarter. More from the AP.
