Scientists are warning that a red tide is reemerging along Florida's southwest coast even after a recent cold front knocked it back. Medium counts of red tide organism were recorded in Lee, Charlotte and Sarasota counties last week.

›Brevard organizations, programs share cultural grants that 'act as catalyst'
Thirty-one nonprofit arts and cultural organizations and programs will be splitting $129,999 in grants to help their organizations. The Brevard County community cultural grants were approved 4-1 by the Brevard County Commission.

An insulation products firm and two timeshare companies firms saw the three biggest increases in their stock prices among Central Florida's biggest publicly traded companies in 2017.

› Florida governor‘s cellphone was bottleneck in Irma response
As Hurricane Irma bore down on Florida, gave out his cellphone number during a conference call with administrators of the state’s nursing homes and assisted living facilities. He told them to him if they ran into problems, and he would try to get help. So they did.
