Connecting Women Entrepreneurs in Florida

Building a business can be one of the most rewarding challenges in someone’s life, but it can also be extremely difficult. Spending time to develop professional relationships is a cost-effective way for a business owner to get help by gaining insights and developing strategies that can accelerate growth.

It’s no surprise that more women are joining professional organizations and developing relationships with peers who can help them grow their business. Some of the most fulfilling connections have come from relationships built with other women who share their values, goals, and challenges.

A report released by the Small Business Administration noted that women-owned businesses in the United States account for over $1.5 trillion in revenue and over 33% of all privately held businesses in the United States.

As these numbers continue to grow, so will the number of women business leaders who are looking for opportunities to connect and build lasting business relationships. In many cases, they are looking for organizations that provide value beyond traditional networking and the exchange of business cards.

An example of this approach in action is USAmeriBank’s Women Entrepreneurs (WE) customer program. The group focuses on helping members make meaningful, impactful relationships with other women professionals.

“The WE program allows USAmeriBank to become a true partner for our customer,” explains Cami Gibertini, SVP/Retail Market Manager at USAmeriBank and Director of Women Entrepreneurs. “It puts our team in a position to help WE members grow their businesses and make valuable connections.”

Shortly after launching the WE program last year, the bank could see that its approach was already working.

Susan Ward, co-founder of Buddy Brew Coffee, was introduced to Leigh Tucker, creator of the Kiwicha Bar, at a WE launch event. A follow-up meeting led to Ward ordering Kiwicha Bars for two Buddy Brew locations. The bars sold well, and the partnership helped IN FLORIDA propel Tucker’s young business to the next level.

The WE team also coordinated a meeting between Ericka White, pastor and co-founder of OneChurch in Tampa, and Michelle Turman, principal consultant of Catalyst Consulting Services. Turman helped White launch a nonprofit and they are now doing business together.

These are just a few examples of how a meaningful connection was made through the Women Entrepreneurs program. Whether the goal is to expand a business venture or develop a lasting friendship, the investment of time is invaluable in building strong personal and professional networks.
