Florida Offers Boundless Business Potential

Florida Department of Economic Opportunity

| 9/22/2017

Florida’s thriving economy is the nation’s most impressive business success story. Our state’s private-sector job growth rate consistently bests that of our competitor states, and Florida’s unemployment rate is at its lowest point in nearly a decade. In just six years, more than 1.4 million new jobs have been created across our communities, giving new opportunity to Florida’s hardworking families.

With renewed commitment to economic growth by our state leaders and the launch of the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund, this year presents new opportunities to make strategic investments in our state’s infrastructure and talent pipelines in order to secure a strong future for our state.

At the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, we invest in the prosperity of all Floridians and their communities. Our agency combines economic development initiatives, workforce support and training, and community development efforts to fuel job creation around the state. We are proud to work with leaders across our state to help support local businesses, engage talented job seekers and enhance our state’s diverse communities, ensuring continued economic success for all of the families and businesses that call Florida home.

Cissy Proctor
Executive Director, Florida Department of Economic Opportunity
Enterprise Florida

In collaboration with our partners, the Department of Economic Opportunity’s mission is to assist the governor in advancing Florida’s economy by championing the state’s economic development vision and by administering state and federal programs and initiatives to help visitors, citizens, businesses and communities.
