NYU Langone Extends Its Ambulatory Network to Southeast Florida

NYU Langone Introduces Two Outpatient Practices in Palm Beach County, Where Many of Its Patients Live

| 6/27/2017

NYU Langone Medical Center announced it will introduce two outpatient physician practices in Palm Beach County, Florida this year, bringing its nationally ranked clinical services closer to its many patients who reside in the region.

Its first Florida location, NYU Langone Cardiology Associates—Delray Beach, will officially launch on August 1, 2017. The practice will be composed of four physicians and other medical professional staff, and will be overseen by Harvard-trained medical director Louis D. Snyder, MD, a prominent area physician and longtime Palm Beach County resident. Clinical services that will be offered at the practice include echocardiography stress tests, ultrasound, and other important cardio-diagnostic tests, like cardiac PET scanning, which has higher accuracy and greater safety with lower radiation exposure than the commonly done stress thallium test. In addition, the practice will provide vein care and treatment.

The second location, NYU Langone Medical Associates—West Palm Beach, will come on board in October 2017, as a multispecialty practice focusing on primary and cardiology care. More details about this practice will become available as plans are finalized later this summer.

The new services exemplify NYU Langone’s commitment to expand its ambulatory care network to bring services closer to where its patients live and work—including across state lines.

“Thousands of individuals in the Palm Beach region travel to New York City to receive their medical care with us, and we know that can often be a significant burden to our patients,” says Andrew Rubin, vice president, clinical affairs and ambulatory care at NYU Langone. “These two new practices now allow us to bring NYU Langone’s clinical excellence directly to them.”

Both Florida locations will be virtually connected to each other as well as to the larger NYU Langone health system via Epic, its electronic health record system. Epic allows physicians to receive up-to-date medical records and test results, and enables patients to manage appointments, communicate with physicians, and remotely refill prescriptions through Epic’s patient portal, MyChart. This interconnectivity is especially important as NYU Langone expands across state lines.

Since 2011, NYU Langone has grown its ambulatory care network to more than 250 locations across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Staten Island, Hudson Valley— and now the Sunshine State. It has maintained its position as a national leader in the highest quality outpatient care. In 2016, NYU Langone received the Ambulatory Care Quality and Accountability Award from Vizient, Inc. for demonstrated excellence.

“We are excited to join NYU Langone’s growing ambulatory family, to bring the very best of academic medicine to our patients in Southeast Florida, and to facilitate a continuity of care,” says Dr. Snyder.
