Sunrun Expands Solar Access to Florida

Driven by strong consumer demand, Sunrun will now offer cleaner energy options to the Sunshine State

| 6/21/2017

SAN FRANCISCO -- Sunrun Inc. (Nasdaq:RUN), the largest dedicated residential solar, storage and energy services company in the United States, today announced that it will offer homeowners in Florida a less expensive, cleaner way to power their homes while creating new jobs throughout Orlando and Tampa this year. In November, Floridians voted in favor of clean energy choices and legislators responded this session by passing Senate Bill 90, making it simpler to go solar. Florida follows Nevada and countless other states that are taking local action to support clean energy access.

By offering consumers the freedom of choice, homeowners can either own their system outright with Sunrun BrightBuy, or finance their system purchase with SunrunBrightAdvantage, using a loan arranged by Sunrun. Systems will be available for purchase at select Costco retailers or directly from Sunrun via its website www.sunrun.com or 1-888-GO-SOLAR.

"There is strong demand for rooftop solar in Florida, so we are thrilled to bring this affordable clean energy solution to homeowners," said Lynn Jurich, Chief Executive Officer of Sunrun. "Rooftop solar benefits both homeowners choosing to take control of their energy needs, and communities by creating new jobs and a cleaner, more robust energy grid.”

With the addition of Florida, Sunrun now offers service in 22 states, expanding its presence in the Southeast. This further highlights Sunrun's ability to enter new markets in a low fixed-cost way through continuing to drive installation costs down and collaborating with local partners in the state.

Floridians are ready for affordable cleaner energy choices. Voters went to the ballot box in August and November and asked their legislators to make it simpler to go solar. Legislators responded by passing Senate Bill 90 to enable voter-passed Amendment 4, which Governor Rick Scott signed Friday.

“SB 90 represents a real tax cut to those homeowners and businesses who choose to invest in their own energy future,” said Ray Rodrigues, Florida House Majority Leader. “It lowers the cost of doing business and helps Florida families. It also creates jobs and economic opportunities, and I welcome job creators like Sunrun to the State of Florida.”

Florida Senator Jeff Brandes agreed: “The decision to create new jobs in the renewable energy market in Florida continues to move our economy forward with tax cuts like those in SB 90. We have a bold job growth agenda that prioritizes a diversified energy portfolio, and I look forward to further efforts in the legislature to continue this positive momentum.”
