Florida among states adding construction jobs

Construction job growth in the Sunshine State is booming. Florida added 31,000 jobs between May 2016 and May 2017 — a 6.6 percent increase year-over-year, according to Associated General Contractors of America, which did the number-crunching on the Labor Department data. Sabal Trail turns on the gas

After months of countless protests, at least two dozen arrests and about 170 property owners sued over eminent domain, Sabal Trail Transmissions has gas flowing through its new $3.2 billion pipeline. More from the Gainesville Sun.

Head of Winn-Dixie, Southeastern Grocers leaving

A little more than two years after he took over the Winn-Dixie, Bi-Lo, Harveys and Fresco y Más grocery stores, the president and chief executive is leaving. Ian McLeod’s last day with Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of the four chains, will be June 30. The company has announced that Anthony Hucker, the Company’s Chief Operating Officer, will assume the responsibilities of President and Chief Executive Officer on an interim basis. Crime prevention academy offered to Miramar business owners

If you own a business in Miramar, police are inviting you to a free, crime prevention academy that will begin June 29. Held every Thursday night through July 20th, the academy will feature detectives with the department as well as special agents from the FBI and agents with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Sarasota is looking more sustainable after City Commission meeting

In a victory for local environmentalists, city commissioners voted unanimously Monday to support two sustainability initiatives in setting a community-wide goal of achieving 100 percent renewable energy by 2045. More from the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

As part of the NBA’s pilot program testing ads on jerseys, the Disney name will appear on the front left of Magic jerseys beginning with the 2017-18 NBA season.
