Most Florida homes still worth less than a decade ago

Florida’s economy has mostly shaken off the Great Recession. Unemployment has plummeted, consumer confidence has rebounded and tourism is at record levels. The housing market, alas, hasn’t fared so well. For example, in Fort Lauderdale only 2.7% of homes have attained their peak pre-recession value. See a chart of all the major Florida metros and how their housing values have fared since the recession, here. The chart includes pre- and post- recession median home values, personal income growth, job growth, population growth, and residential vacancy rate. Shipt expands delivery options in Florida

Shipt, a grocery delivery start-up, is expanding its partnership with Costco and also plans to double its overall market size this year. Shipt announced Thursday it will add nine Florida markets, including six markets with Costco home delivery and three with regional grocer Publix. More from CNBC.

Gov. Scott calls out lawmakers, will consider budget veto

With the exact details of the state budget still under wraps, Gov. Rick Scott said that he would consider vetoing the entire thing if legislators don’t include “full funding” to Enterprise Florida and Visit Florida, while also funding a repair of Lake Okeechobee’s dike. New polling shows alarming trend, many Floridians unaware how government works

Many Floridians are unable to answer simple questions about how government works, says a new survey of residents by Florida Southern College. Even those with college degree missed some of the answers from questions included on exams administered to those becoming new citizens of the nation. More from Florida Politics.
