Insurance abuse could be putting Florida mortgages at risk

An insurance-rating company has warned that recent court rulings and skyrocketing losses from water-damage claims have created an “uncertain operating environment” for Florida’s property insurers and that it will downgrade the financial stability of 10 to 15 Florida-based companies. Aerospace manufacturing company, 170 highly skilled jobs, coming to Bay County

The St. Joe Company and the Bay Economic Development Alliance announced GKN Aerospace will expand its operations by locating a new manufacturing facility in Venture Crossings Enterprise Centre in Bay County, Florida. With this new facility, GKN Aerospace plans to make a capital investment of approximately $50 million and create 170 new jobs for highly skilled employees. Full story here.

New cancer-fighting assets for Moffitt

florida In November, Moffitt Cancer Center leaders unveiled plans for a 10-year, $800-million expansion that includes a new hospital wing, clinical support building and additional outpatient and research facilities. Leaders hope to raise $500 million and finance the rest with a bond backed by cigarette tax revenue.
