Florida added 1,700 solar jobs in 2016

Florida gained 1,700 jobs in solar energy industries in 2016, according to the new National Solar Jobs Census 2016 released by The Solar Foundation. Florida now has a total of 8,260 solar workers, up from 6,560 in 2015, and the state ranks fifth in the nation for the number of solar jobs by state. More from WJXT.

Pembroke Pines-based supplement maker files Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Stemtech International, a formerly high-flying Pembroke Pines-based dietary supplement maker, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as it battles a former supplier and seeks Supreme Court review of a $1.6 million judgment from a 2008 copyright infringement case. Spirit Airlines cuts complaints by 64%

The Miramar-based company released their fourth quarter and full year results today, and as part of that report, they addressed improvements they have made. From Bob Fornaro, Spirit's President and Chief Executive Officer of Spirit Airlines:

"Throughout 2016, we made solid progress towards our goal of consistent reliability.  We improved our on-time performance3 by 5.2 percentage points and we made great progress in lowering the number of complaints reported to the Department of Transportation.  We started the year with a complaint ratio of over 11 per 100,000 customers and by year-end we were under 4 per 100,000 customers." said Bob Fornaro, Spirit's President and Chief Executive Officer of Spirit Airlines.

In addition, the company increased operating revenue 11 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016 (over Q4 2015) because of a 12 percent increse in flight volume. More in the company's statement, here.

SpaceX to hit fastest launch pace with new Florida site

Space Exploration Technologies, better known as SpaceX, plans to launch its Falcon 9 rockets every two to three weeks, its fastest rate since starting launches in 2010, once a new launch pad is put into service in Florida next week. Full story from Reuters.. Also read more at FOX Business.
