Florida leads the nation in private-sector job growth

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that Florida businesses added private-sector jobs at the fastest rate in the nation in the last year, tied with Utah. Over the year in November, Florida added 251,400 new private-sector jobs, resulting in a private-sector job growth rate of 3.5 percent. More at Florida Trend.

Pompano Beach call center to lay off more than 800 employees

Sitel Corp., a call center operation in Pompano Beach, has issued a notice to the state of Florida that it plans to lay off 804 workers in February. The Nashville, Tenn., based company just set up the customer service center in Pompano Beach in September 2015, when it said it was hiring 1,000 employees. More from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Drone store to open its first U.S. location in Wynwood

China-based DJI has partnered with Drone Nerds to sign a deal for its first U.S. store in Miami’s Wynwood. The booming neighborhood is known for hip retailers and trendy restaurants and its street art is a magnet for selfies, so a one-of-a-kind drone store should fit right in. Florida equestrian compound on the market for $45 million
