Florida agriculture, natural resources employment rising
About 1.56 million people worked full- or part-time in agriculture, natural resources and food industries in 2014, an increase of about 40,000 workers from 2013, and nearly 29 percent from 2001, according to a new University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences economic report. Hive rustlers
In May, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft at a remote wooded area in Lehigh Acres. A local beekeeper told deputies that about $4,500 worth of hives had been stolen. Tire tracks found nearby appeared to be from the thief’s vehicle.

2017 Florida International Toy Piano Festival
The Florida International Toy Piano Festival returns for a second year, with a focus on toy piano as a collaborative instrument. In addition to the varied performances and open lectures on toy piano, Saint Petersburg native and festival co-founder Elizabeth A. Baker will present an interactive concert experience at Bloom Art Center.
