Chris Hart named new President and CEO of Enterprise Florida
Gov. Rick Scott has selected Chris Hart to be President and CEO of Enterprise Florida. The governor released remarks about his new appointment, including:
“As a former state representative, Chris has the knowledge, understanding and relationships with the Florida Legislature- an important partner to growing Florida jobs. While he led CareerSource, he helped people all across our state find meaningful jobs. In his various roles at Enterprise Florida and in the Governor’s Office, he has also spent a lot of time working on economic development in our state."
Floridians among most vulnerable for identity theft and fraud
According to a new study from Wallethub.com, Florida ranks third in the nation when it comes to ID theft. But inside the numbers are some even more disturbing statistics. The state is number one in identity theft complaints per capita. Florida is also number one for fraud and other complaints per capita. More from the Tampa Bay Times and WTSP.
HBO show moving to California after two seasons in Florida
The HBO comedy "Ballers" starring Dwayne Johnson is exiting the Sunshine State after filming two seasons in Miami. The move comes as Florida's film and television tax incentives program expired earlier this year after the state legislature voted down a measure in March to replenish the funds. Seminole Tribe sells citrus operations
In April 2014, the Seminole Tribe purchased a 60 percent ownership in a major citrus operation. After substantially growing the company, now the tribe and partner William G. Roe & Sons Inc. (the Roe family founded Blue Lake Citrus in 1927) are selling the brand to Miami-based Sun Orchard. More from Indian Country Today and the South Florida Business Journal.
Wednesday is last day of 2016 Atlantic hurricane season
Wednesday marks the last official day of Atlantic hurricane season, and 2016 was a busy year in the tropics. The season brought 15 named storms and seven hurricanes, three of which were classified as major storms. More from WFLA and the Miami Herald.
