Florida Trend's Golden Spoon Awards are announced

The annual Golden Spoon Awards recognize the state’s best restaurants. This year, the list includes 21 new Golden Spoon members and 8 new Hall of Fame entries. The Newcomers list names another 20 -- plus the Robert W. Tolf award winner. At this section - which is open and free to all - the winners are listed and organized by type of award or location in the state.

Crime rate in Florida drops, but murder rate rises in 2016

Florida's overall crime rate is dropping, but reports of murders, rapes and car thefts increased during the first half of 2016. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Monday released statistics that showed that the overall crime rate decreased 3.4 percent over a six-month period this year. The report from FDLE is here. Are Floridians stingy givers? New study suggests so
