Matthew hammers Florida, begins dayslong beating of coast

Hurricane Matthew's howling wind and driving rain pummeled Florida early Friday, starting what's expected to be a ruinous, dayslong battering of the Southeast coast. The strongest winds of 120 mph were just offshore, but Matthew's wrath still menaced more than 500 miles of coastline. Full story from Reuters. here.

Seminole Tribe may have winning hand in gambling dispute with Florida

A federal judge appeared convinced on Wednesday that Florida gambling regulators’ decision to allow controversial card games had violated an agreement with the Seminole Tribe that had given tribal casinos exclusive rights to conduct “banked” games such as blackjack. [Source: Miami Herald]

State issues final order for workers’ comp cost increase

State insurance regulators have issued a final order raising the price of worker’s compensation insurance by nearly 15 percent.
