Insurers say they're ready to pay claims no matter what happens with Matthew

Hurricane Matthew could be the first major test of claims-handling capabilities by numerous young insurance companies created since the 2004-05 run of hurricanes that ended with Wilma. And with Matthew's path still uncertain but looking likely to impact the state, insurers are urging policyholders to protect themselves and their properties. Florida on record pace for mail ballots but voters face risks, too

Florida is seeing a torrid rate of requests for mail ballots from voters in the 2016 presidential election. The number of requests for mail ballots (2.6 million and growing daily) has already surpassed the 2.4 million mail ballots returned in the last presidential election in 2012. 'A sweet sensation' for Florida's strawberry growers

The latest strawberry variety from UF/IFAS appears to have all the necessary characteristics to appeal to consumers. According to a newly published study in the journal Scientia Horticulturae, 'Sweet Sensation' variety lasts longer on the shelf and tastes sweeter than two other comparable cultivars. Harris shows off technology with Innovation Center

Harris Corp. unveiled its new 23,000-square-foot Global Innovation Center Tuesday evening at its sprawling Nasa Boulevard campus in Melbourne. Gulf Coast State College's Unmanned Vehicle Systems program earns accreditation

Gulf Coast State College has received approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to offer an Associate in Science in Unmanned Vehicle Systems, the first to receive that designation in the Florida College System/FCS. More at Florida Trend.
