Many communities believe innovation is the path forward for them. It seems like it’s happening everywhere, including here in Florida. Miami, St. Petersburg, Tallahassee, and Gainesville have developed innovation districts, while other areas including Hillsborough County and Mount Dora are planning to roll out innovation districts. Gov. Scott orders Florida DEP to notify public, local governments, following pollution incidents

Following the sewage spill in Pinellas County and the sinkhole at Mosaic’s New Wales facility, Gov. Scott is directing Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Jon Steverson to issue an emergency rule that establishes new requirements for public notification of pollution incidents. This emergency rule will ensure the public, local governments and DEP are notified within 24 hours by all responsible parties following a pollution incident. See the full statement from Gov. Large medical research facility opens in Fort Lauderdale

Florida Primary 2016 Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale has opened the Center for Collaborative Research. The $100 million, 215,000-square-foot, six-story facility has wet and dry labs. As part of opening the doors last week, NSU announced a gift from AutoNation to name NSU’s AutoNation Institute for Breast and Solid Tumor Cancer Research, located within the CCR. Mote Marine Laboratory surpasses $50M fundraising goal

cameras Florida Trend attended the Florida Magazine Association's annual conference on Friday, September 23 at the Swan at Disney in Orlando and was awarded nine "Charlie Awards." The conference celebrated the work of magazines from around the state. In 2016, there were more than 600 award entries.
