Florida - The Future is Here

Florida Department of Economic Opportunity

| 9/22/2016

Florida’s economy is flourishing. The statewide unemployment rate is the lowest since 2007. The private sector is booming, with more than 1.1 million jobs added over the past five years. There are hundreds of thousands of job opportunities across the state. Florida’s economic growth is setting the course for the rest of the nation, with our stellar job growth rate and GDP growth. Every one of those more than 1.1 million jobs means hope for a family that now has the chance to live the American Dream.

Florida did not get here by accident. Governor Rick Scott’s focus on lowering taxes, reducing unnecessary bureaucratic regulations and improving our already competitive business environment helps ensure prosperity for individuals and families across our state. The state’s commitment to investments in education, workforce and infrastructure has fostered this incredible business growth and made Florida the best place in the nation to live and work.

At the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, we are proud to work with leaders across our state to attract a diverse group of businesses that support our growing workforce. We are committed to using all of our resources to foster job growth and ensure a bright future for residents all across the state.

In collaboration with our partners, the Department of Economic Opportunity’s mission is to assist the governor in advancing Florida’s economy by championing the state’s economic development vision and by administering state and federal programs and initiatives to help visitors, citizens, businesses and communities.
