Amazon continues to invest in Florida with new Jacksonville center
Amazon.com confirmed today it will open a more than 800,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Jacksonville, creating more than 1,500 full-time jobs at the site when the facility opens. “This is the largest single jobs announcement in our city’s history.” JAX Chamber President Daniel Davis said a prepared statement. The center is under development at Pecan Park and Duval roads, north of Interstate 295 and near Jacksonville International Airport (see map for approximate location). Lobster mini-season begins with thousands looking for dinner

H.I.G. Capital announced the sale of its portfolio company, Amerijet Holdings, Inc. to an affiliate of ZS Fund L.P., a middle market focused private equity firm. Since its founding in 1974, Amerijet has grown from a charter service operator to the leading provider of cargo and logistics solutions to the Caribbean and Latin America. Rifle Paper Co. expands with new warehouse, offices in Maitland

Travel up at Miami Int’l Airport despite drop in Brazil travelers
More people are traveling through Miami International Airport, despite economic problems in one of the airport's most important international markets. Can a brain exercise put off dementia?
One particular type of mental exercise may succeed at doing what nothing else has before: putting off dementia. A new, 10-year study including Florida researchers showed that speed training beat out memory and reasoning exercises, two other popular brain-training techniques.

The Florida Cup
UCF’s Bright House Networks Stadium will host the Florida Cup, the largest international sporting event in the state, in 2017. The friendly tournament was broadcast to over 170 countries where it reached 650 million households and reached a digital audience of over 31 million fans on during the event’s two-week run last year.
