House flipping is making a comeback in Florida

Nationally, there has been little change in house flipping in the past year, but Las Vegas is approaching historical highs, and flipping is making a comeback in several Florida markets. According to a report from Trulia, flipping has increased most in Miami, growing from 4.7% to 6.4% of all home sales. Other Florida markets have also seen relatively large increases. First Coast economy shows deflation for January

University of North Florida economist Paul Mason released January figures for the Jacksonville area economy and they show the CPI fell by 0.22, moving from December’s 116.99 to 116.77. If that rate was sustained for the entire, year the First Coast would post a 2.22 percent annual deflation rate. More from the Florida Times-Union.

UF hopping into hops

florida agriculture University of Florida researchers hope to help farmers hop into the beer business by cultivating hops. Scientists with UF’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences will work with a $158,000 grant from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumers Services to develop a viable hops crop.
