Florida in other states’ shadows as solar jobs shine
Florida accounts for just 6,560 solar energy related jobs out of the 208,859 nationwide positions, according to a Solar Foundation survey. The leader? California, which lists 75,598 jobs in the solar energy field. Massachusetts (15,095), New York (8,250) and New Jersey (7,071) all ranked ahead of Florida. House approves $1 billion tax cut package
The Florida House passed a wide-sweeping tax cut package Thursday, setting the scene for negotiations with the Senate over the tax reductions. The House voted 96 to 17 to support the nearly $1 billion proposal, getting the support of several House Democrats. [Source: Florida Politics]
New Florida film incentive program gets second hearing
Some state lawmakers want to put Florida back on the silver screen by revamping the state’s film incentive program. In 2010, the Florida Legislature put forward about $260 million in incentives. The money was supposed to last six years, but ran out halfway through. [Source: WMFE]

Wipro Limited, an international information technology company, announced today that it will buy Tampa-based HealthPlan Services for $460 million. HealthPlan, with more than 2,000 employees, offers support for companies participating in health exchanges set up under Obamacare.

› Ponte Vedra-based Advanced Disposal delays IPO plan
Advanced Disposal Services, Inc. is postponing its previously announced initial public offering. The Ponte Vedra-based waste management and environmental services company said in a statement it's decided to wait because of "unfavorable equity market conditions."
