Miami-Dade Players - June 2011

» Troubled public hospital system Jackson Health System hired Carlos Migoya, a banker who served for 10 months as an unpaid Miami city manager, as CEO. Migoya, who has no healthcare experience, replaces Eneida Roldan, who did not seek to renew her contract.

» Jim Cason, a retired U.S. Foreign Service officer, unseated Coral Gables Mayor Don Slesnick in a close three-way race. Slesnick had been mayor since 2001.

» Alina Hudak replaced Miami-Dade County Manager George Burgess, who resigned shortly after Mayor Carlos Alvarez was recalled. Hudak, who had been an assistant county manager, is Miami-Dade's first female county manager.

» Burson-Marsteller appointed Ramiro Prudencio CEO for Latin America and promoted former Latin America CEO Santiago Hinojosa to chairman for the region.

» Henry Lewis III became president of Florida Memorial University, a post that had been vacant since 2009. Lewis had been dean of Florida A&M's College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
