As the planet gets warmer, world economies shrink
With each upward degree, global warming will singe the economies of three-quarters of the world's nations and widen the north-south gap between rich and poor countries, according to a new economic and scientific study. The study compared annual temperature to annual GDP for every country. “What we found is that temperature has played an important role in shaping GDP output in the last 50 years,” says Marshall Burke, economist at Stanford University and co-author of the study. » Read the study from Nature.
