Employers offer cash to push shopping around for health care

Companies for years have raised deductibles, or the amount employees pay before most of their coverage begins. They've also given workers online tools to help them shop for the best deals on things like imaging exams and bloodwork. Now, some are using cash to nudge employees toward those deals. How monkeys became big business in Florida

Each year, roughly 20,000 or so monkeys are flown from tropical regions worldwide into the U.S. Many wind up at stateside farms. Despite the relatively small number, the monkeys play a huge role in basic scientific and medical research. More at Bloomberg.

Uber back in Broward this Thursday

After months of leading a public pressure campaign to turn Broward County commissioners, Uber scored a big victory in that municipality Tuesday. The virtual hailing app firm says it will turn its service back on in Broward on Thursday. More at the South Florida Business Journal.

Some Progress Made In New State Gambling Deal

Seminole casinos would get craps and roulette, a Palm Beach County dog track could have slot machines and the state could reap at least $3 billion over seven years, under a gambling deal being negotiated between state leaders and the tribe. More at CBS Miami.

Port Canaveral in line for $2.2M from Florida for cargo project

Port Canaveral is in line to receive a $2.25 million grant from the state to upgrade its cargo facilities. But the port was seeking much, much more. The money is part of the Florida Seaport Transportation and Economic Development Program, in which the state's 15 deep-water ports share $15 million a year in grants. More at Florida Today.

Lightning ranked No. 1 franchise in NHL by ESPN

lightning Owner Jeff Vinik said he wanted to turn the Lightning into a "world class franchise," akin to the Green Bay Packers. And, according to ESPN's Ultimate Ratings, the Lightning is ranked ahead of the Packers - Tampa Bay is No. 3 overall across all sports - and No. 1 in the NHL.
