Staples: Office Depot acquisition will likely close on time

Staples Chairman and CEO Ronald Sargent affirmed Wednesday that the company's $6.3 billion acquisition of Office Depot is on track to close by the end of 2015. The acquisition requires approval from the FTC before it can close. More at the South Florida Business Journal.

Telemundo at capacity filming telenovelas

Telemundo has been busy at its production studio in Hialeah. In July, Nielson reported that the network had its best primetime ratings ever in the second quarter of fiscal 2015, delivering a 32% share among Spanish-language audiences 18-49. More at Miami Today.

Are dress codes for men and women up to employers?

Employers have the right to create and enforce mandatory dress codes, and courts have upheld an employer’s right to create different standards for men and women, and can even legally impose standards that reinforce gender stereotypes. More at the Florida Times-Union.

Python hunters will be allowed into Everglades National Park

The Python Challenge — a bounty hunt that drew hunters from across the country and media from around the world — will be held early next year and for the first time will include ground zero for the slithery invader: Everglades National Park. More at the Miami Herald.

North Florida Reduces Its Petroleum Consumption

northeast florida A new report has documented dramatic growth in the use of alternative fuels by governments and businesses on the roads, on ships and by rail. The North Florida Clean Fuels Coalition says that by using alternative fuels, north Florida cut its petroleum consumption by about 2 million gallons in 2014.
