NOAA predicts below-normal Atlantic Hurricane Season
NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center says the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season will likely be below-normal. But as NOAA Administrator Kathryn Sullivan adds, “A below-normal season doesn’t mean we’re off the hook. As we’ve seen before, below-normal seasons can still produce catastrophic impacts to communities.” There's a 70 percent chance of a below-normal season, with 6 to 11 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which 3 to 6 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher). This year, NOAA will be using new storm surge warning graphics and higher-resolution forecasting models. More at the full report, here.

University of Florida online program struggles in first year
Less than 10 percent of the students invited to take part in a new online program at the University of Florida have accepted the offer. But the 256 high school students who've enrolled will be guaranteed a spot at the university once they complete two semesters and at least 15 hours of online course work. More at the AP.
