Department of Energy: Taller turbines would bring wind energy to Florida

Long dismissed as a wasteland by wind-energy producers, it turns out Florida does have enough breeze to generate lots of electricity — but it will take some reaching to get it, according to new federal findings. More at the Orlando Sentinel.


Tampa, Miami finalists to host Super Bowls in 2019, 2020

Tampa, which has hosted four Super Bowls, most recently in 2009, is a finalist along with Miami, New Orleans and Atlanta. The four cities will make their bids to NFL owners in May 2016. More at the Tampa Bay Times and Sports Talk Florida.

Staples chief executive Ron Sargent said the Massachusetts-based office-supply retailer's acquisition of Boca Raton-based Office Depot is "right on track." During a conference call to discuss Staples' first quarter earnings, Sargent said the company was gathering information requested by the Federal Trade Commission. D.C. tech firm to relocate headquarters to Ocala

A Washington, D.C.-based tech firm with plans to grow by some 50 jobs with an average wage of $51,000 is relocating its headquarters to downtown Ocala, the Ocala/Marion County Chamber & Economic Partnership announced Wednesday. More at the Ocala Star-Banner.


Where do Millennials want to work? Not at corporations

Hey, Corporate America. It appears that many Millennials -- that tsunami of future workers -- don't really want to work for you. Only 15% of the class of 2015 said they would "prefer" to work for large corporations, according to a new survey by management consulting firm Accenture. More at CNN Money.

More than 10,000 people from industry, the military and the greater defense community are expected to attend the three-day event.
