US small business borrowing highest in 7½ years

U.S. small businesses boosted borrowing in September, pushing the Thomson Reuters/PayNet Small Business Lending Index to its highest level in seven and a half years, according to data released on Monday. More at Reuters.

Port Everglades moves record amount of containerized cargo

The national average for regular unleaded gasoline fell below $3 per gallon Saturday for the first time since Dec. 22, 2010, according to AAA reports. Meanwhile, drivers in southeastern states are enjoying some of the cheapest gas in the country, although Florida comes in around the middle of the pack at 20th cheapest. Over the years, the unit has changed names each time its mission shifted. Most recently, the group was called the Casual Clothes Unit and its mission was to help combat burglaries and motor-vehicle thefts in the city.
