US small business borrowing highest in 7½ years
U.S. small businesses boosted borrowing in September, pushing the Thomson Reuters/PayNet Small Business Lending Index to its highest level in seven and a half years, according to data released on Monday. More at Reuters.

The national average for regular unleaded gasoline fell below $3 per gallon Saturday for the first time since Dec. 22, 2010, according to AAA reports. Meanwhile, drivers in southeastern states are enjoying some of the cheapest gas in the country, although Florida comes in around the middle of the pack at 20th cheapest. Startups seize opportunity to make urban living greener, smarter, easier
“Urban tech” solutions are aimed at simultaneously making it easier to live in cities and helping to reduce the carbon footprint. They join other solutions that have grown in popularity in the past couple of years: ride-, bike- and room-sharing, delivery services, and crowd-sourced information portals — all of which can be easily accessed with your smartphone.
