Florida leads U.S. in annual foreclosures

In the month of September, 46,000 U.S. home foreclosures were completed, up 4.7% from the previous month but down 32.6% from 68,000 in September of 2013, according to research firm CoreLogic. While an improvement, the number of foreclosures is still more than double the 2000 to 2006 average. More at 24/7 Wall Street and Housingwire.


Florida earns B for education policies

A national organization has given Florida a B grade for its education policies, putting it second in the nation. Today, Virginia-based American Legislative Exchange Council issued its Report Card on American Education, which awarded letter grades based on six facets of states' education policies. Jobs grow 3 percent in South Florida

Disney's global technology group for its parks-and-resorts division is undergoing a sweeping reorganization that is expected to result in some employees losing their jobs. More at the Orlando Sentinel.

Student housing is hot in Tallahassee

campus life Collegium Capital Partners has purchased four apartment complexes in Tallahassee, encompassing 1,000 apartments with 3,155 beds. In Tallahassee’s Gaines Street district near FSU’s Doak Campbell Stadium, developers North American Properties and Uptown Rental Properties opened a $114-million complex of three buildings called Stadium Centre.
