Florida exports up 10.3% in August
The latest international trade numbers show that $5.31 billion worth of goods left Florida for international markets in August, an increase of 10.3 percent from July. Exports of manufactured goods contributed significantly to the state's international trade, accounting for 77 percent of all state exports in August. More at the Orlando Business Journal.
AutoNation reports 'brilliant' quarter, beats expectations
The country’s largest auto retailer, based in Fort Lauderdale, said Tuesday that quarterly revenues reached $4.9 billion, up 10 percent, and net income rose to $106.5 million, up 15 percent from the same quarter a year ago. More at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Casino magnate spending more to defeat pot measure
A Las Vegas casino magnate is kicking another $1 million to defeat a proposal to legalize medical marijuana. Sheldon Adelson has now donated a total of $5 million to the group that wants to defeat the constitutional amendment that will be on the November ballot. More at the AP.
