Unemployment number falls to 8-year low
The number of people seeking U.S. unemployment benefits dropped last week as the total number of Americans collecting benefits dropped to its lowest level in more than eight years. More at the AP and Bloomberg News.
AutoNation reports best September sales since 2007
Fort Lauderdale-based AutoNation on Thursday reported its best September sales since 2007 and predicted even stronger sales ahead. The country's largest vehicle retailer said it sold 24,081 cars and trucks during the month, a 16 percent jump from last year. More at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
BBX buys Florida confections manufacturer
BBX Capital Corp.’s candy subsidiary acquired Anastasia Confections, a candy manufacturer in Orlando. This is the fifth candy company acquisition for BBX since it sold BankAtlantic. More at the South Florida Business Journal.
