Hannah Choi Granade doesn't have the typical pedigree of someone running a global air-conditioning company. After all, she's young, Asian-American and a Harvard graduate to boot.

The successful 35-year-old CEO turns heads at trade shows or even client meetings. It's obvious she doesn't look like she's been plucked from central casting.

"I'm not sure what they are reacting to: age, gender, ethnicity. There's always some surprise," Granade said.

But the chief executive of Sunrise-based Advantix Systems finds it helpful to be "memorable."
