› Brevard schools sales-tax run would last 6 years
If approved in November, the tax would raise $32 million a year for school facilities, security and technology. It would bring Brevard's sales tax from 6 to 6.5 percent.

› American Express unveils S. Florida headquarters plans
The headquarters will provide offices for most of the credit card company's 3,000 employees from Plantation, Weston and Miramar.

› WellCare names Florida president
WellCare Health Plans Inc.'s acting president for Florida has been chosen as the official president of the company for the state. Gregg MacDonald, who has been acting president since April 4, has been WellCare's chief operating officer for Florida since May 2007.

› Port: Middle Eastern company fully vetted
Port Canaveral CEO John Walsh said the deal with the privately owned Gulftainer was fully vetted and received clearance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Federal Maritime Commission and the Florida Department of Transportation.
