Knowing the Market

Working for a Winner

Since the majority of time is spent at work, it makes sense to look for a job in a company where employees feel valued and fulfilled.

Life is too short to be miserable 40 hours a week. As you look for a job, consider more than hours and pay. Find a place that values its employees and invests in their future as a way of growing the company.

We selected some companies from the 2013 Best Companies To Work For In Florida winners list that were in active hiring mode at the time of the survey.

Some of these have corporate headquarters out of state, but their presence is significant in

Florida. They all rank high with their employees.

Surf their websites to learn more about their line of business, find their Florida locations and open positions.

Sizing Up the Corporate Culture

Be sure the company is a good fit for you.
Life in Miami is very different from Pensacola. Choose your workplace like you choose where you would like to live. Pause before accepting a position to be sure the company is a good fit. Make some observations when you visit. Notice office pace, configuration and dress code and ask about the company's values. A good match in the beginning is good business for the company and a good life for the employee.

Where the Odds Are in Your Favor

Cities with Most online Ads

The chances of landing a winning job increase for you if you are looking in a city where more positions are available.

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity tracks online job postings to determine what companies are hiring, what kind of positions they need to fill, and how many people are looking for jobs.

Major occupational groups with the most online ads in fall 2013 were sales and related occupations; healthcare practitioners and technical occupations; office and administrative support occupations; and management occupations.
