Online school Open English, based in Miami, has raised $43 million that it will use to expand from 50,000 to 80,000 students in Latin America by year’s end. Investors include Insight Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Flybridge Capital Partners and Kaszek Ventures. Flybridge and Kaszek were following up on investments they made last year. About 40 employees work in the Miami office, with almost 1,000 more around Latin America, with offices in Caracas, Venezuela; Bogota, Colombia; São Paulo, Brazil; and Panama City, Panama.
