Ideaworks President Caron Sjoberg wanted to make a bigger impact with the free marketing she was doing for local non-profits, so she designed GoodWorks, selecting one non-profit each year to provide with complete marketing services. Launched in 2005, GoodWorks since has delivered more than $1 million worth of free marketing — and may have generated business for Ideaworks as well. "We've grown solely on referrals,'' says Sjoberg, who founded the firm in 1995. Sales grew 27% between 2009 and 2010, to $2.3 million. Meanwhile, Sjoberg has accumulated a slew of business awards — including this year's Business Leader of the Year recognition from the Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. The firm's specialties include media buying, public relations and social media and internet marketing. This year's GoodWorks winner is the Creek Indian Perdido Bay Tribe, in support of its environmental and cultural projects.
