Quality of Life

Award-winning healthcare: Tampa General Hospital ranked among the top 50 on U.S. News & World Report's 2011-12 list of "America's Best Hospitals" in seven medical specialties. H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute ranked No. 18 nationwide for cancer care.

Fun in the sun: Tampa Bay holds the record in Florida for most consecutive days of sunshine (768!), and Fort DeSoto Park in Pinellas County was named America's best family beach by Parents magazine in 2011.

Accolades for the Arts

» For the second year running, AmericanStyle magazine has ranked St. Petersburg No. 1 on its "Top 25 Mid-sized Cities for Art." The new $36-million Salvador Dali Museum, which in addition to a permanent collection of 96 oil paintings, plus drawings, photographs and prints by the famed surrealist, is itself a work of art. The exterior features a geodesic glass structure of more than 900 triangular-shaped glass panels and inside, a spectacular helical staircase ascends to the galleries.

» Two more Tampa Bay cities singled out: Sarasota, site of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art and Ringling College of Art and Design, ranked No. 5, and Bradenton, known for its gallery- and studio-laden "Village of the Arts," was No. 10 on AmericanStyle's "Top 25 Small Cities for Art."

» Florida Southern College in Lakeland, home to the world's largest collection of buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright on a single site, has earned the title "Most Beautiful Campus" from The Princeton Review.
