COCOA BEACH -- Ron Jon Surf Shop has signed a licensing agreement with Orlando-based Jayram to open as many as six surf shops around the Caribbean this year. The five-year agreement, under which Jayram would sublicense the name to other operators, includes plans to open Ron Jons in Aruba, St. Thomas, Belize and Honduras. Jayram opened its first Ron Jon in a cruise terminal in Cozumel, Mexico, last October.

Lightning is an accepted hazard in Florida, especially in the summer. Recently, surveillance cameras captured a number of people being hit. Weather experts say lightning deaths have trended down for decades and 2017 could see an all-time low.
