A Surprise Raise

Despite earning praise for his efforts to clean up city government and restore fiscal stability, Miami Mayor Manny Diaz is under fire for accepting a surprise salary increase from the five-member city commission. The raise -- from $97,000 to $150,000 -- was approved after a late-night vote made with no public notice or input.
