» The Florida Council on Economic Education named St. Joe Co. CEO Peter Rummell its 2006 Free Enterpriser of the Year.

» St. Vincent's Health System tapped Dr. Phil Perry as its chief medical officer Dr. Phil Perry, an anesthesiologist who has practiced at St. Vincent's for more than 20 years, is president-elect of the hospital's medical staff.

» Robert L. Wood is the new dean of continuing education at the University of North Florida. Wood was dean of continuing education and workforce development at Central Carolina Technical College.

» CSX Corp. CEO Michael Ward earned $22.6 million in total compensation last year. Ward's base salary of $947,000 was augmented by a $1.8 million bonus as well as $19.9 million in cash and stock earned as part of the company's long-term incentive package.

» Weeks after Orange Park Medical Center won state permission to build a second Clay County hospital, its CEO, Robert Krieger, was removed from his position. The hospital's parent company, HCA, said Krieger and his supervisors disagreed over how to implement the hospital's strategic plan.
