» Robert L. Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television, has acquired Metro Bank of Orlando as the first branch of his new Urban Trust Bank, which will be based in Washington, D.C.

» John Bultema III has been appointed president and CEO of the central Florida market for Fifth Third bank, moving from Michigan and replacing Gary Howlett, who resigned.

» John Caparella, former senior vice president and general manager of the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee, has been named chief operating officer and executive vice president of Gaylord Hotels. He is replaced at Gaylord Palms by Kemp Gallineau, former vice president and assistant general manager of Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville.

» Frank Billingsley, executive director of Orlando's Downtown Development Board and Community Redevelopment Agency, has been promoted and holds the additional title of deputy director of the city's Economic Development Department.
