» Burger King Chairman and CEO Greg Brenneman has announced his resignation after less than two years at the helm of the Miami-based fast-food giant. Brenneman, the company's 10th CEO in the last 17 years, will be replaced by Burger King President and CFO John Chidsey.

» Latin American specialist Brian Dean has been named executive director of Florida FTAA, the group charged with landing the headquarters of the Free Trade Area of the Americas in Miami. Dean replaces Jorge L. Arrizurieta, who accepted a position with lawfirm Akerman Senterfitt in Miami.

» R. David Paulison, a veteran of the Miami-Dade Fire Department, has been nominated by the Bush administration for the top post of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

» Raul G. Valdes-Fauli has been named president/Miami-Dade County for Colonial Bank's South Florida region.

» Leslie Pantin Jr., president of Pantin/Beber Silverstein Public Relations, has been named to the board of trustees of Florida State University.
