» Joey V. Duncan is the new director of Jacksonville's Public Works Department. Duncan takes over from Alan Mosley, who earlier was named the city's chief operating officer.

» Mark E. Workman was named the University of North Florida's provost and vice president of academic affairs. Workman has held the position on an interim basis since August.

» Gate Petroleum President Herb Peyton donated $1 million to the Bolles School, the biggest capital gift in the private school's 74-year history. The donation will pay for a boathouse for the school's crew program.

» Ponte Vedra Beach-based Global Axcess Corp. named Michael J. Loiacono its chief financial officer. The company owns and operates a network of more than 5,000 automated teller machines in 42 states.

» Gov. Jeb Bush has appointed Kevin Blazs, a partner in the law firm of Gobelman, Love, Gavin, Blazs, to fill a vacancy on the Duval County Court.
