Jim McCollum, longtime regional director of corporate and external affairs at BellSouth, has retired. He plans to stay on as chairman of WJCT, the local public broadcasting station, until September and continue on the board of the Jacksonville Aviation Authority until his term expires.
? St. Johns County Sheriff David Shoar won the $10,000 prize in the America's Most Wanted All-Star Challenge for first responders. Shoar donated the money to help pay medical bills for Deputy Steve Bailey, who is recovering from a severe stroke and also lost his home to a fire.
? First Bank of Jacksonville hired Meredith Whitehurst as its chief financial officer. Whitehurst previously worked at First Bank of the Palm Beaches and Millennium Bank in Gainesville.
? Izzy Bonilla is the new manager of Jacksonville International Airport.
? Michael Corrigan was elected president and Daniel Davis vice president of the Jacksonville City Council.They'll serve one-year terms.
