» Geralyn McClure Franklin, former dean of the school of business at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, is the new dean of the University of South Florida's business school, replacing Ron Hill.

» HCA has named Robert Conroy Jr. president and chief executive of St. Petersburg General Hospital.

» Don DeFossett, former chairman and CEO of Walter Industries, was named chairman of the Florida Council on Economic Education, a non-profit that promotes financial literacy in Florida schools. Jim De Santis, former president of the Astronauts Memorial Foundation at Kennedy Space Center, was named executive director of the group.
